Hi everyone and happy new year!

Well, classes are back and we’re all trying to work off the lethargy of the Xmas break. (Kids classes start back on Monday 3rd February, but all adults Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes are now back to a normal schedule.)

EXCEPT, and there’s always an exception, this coming Monday, January 27th, is a public holiday, so there will be no classes on that day. Also, Friday 31st January is Chinese New Year’s Day, so there will be no San Da class that night as I’ll be up in Sydney helping with lion dance celebrations.

With that in mind, we’re heading into the Year of the Horse and if anyone is keen to help out and see the spectacle that is our Chinese New Year Lion Dance parade through Chinatown, Sydney, that’s happening on Saturday February 1st. It’s a great thing to see, to learn about the cultural aspects of our lion dance tradition and be deafened by drums and firecrackers. But we can always use extra help on the day in terms of crowd control and general assistance, plus cymbal playing and lion tail for those of you who have started to learn that stuff. If you’re interested, please give me a shout for details, or just show up at the Sydney school (15 Goulburn Street, Sydney) by around 10am on Saturday February 1st.

If you come along, wear your Illawarra Kung Fu Academy t-shirt to identify where you’re from.

So don’t forget, all adult classes are now back (with the exception of the two dates mentioned above) and Kids and Juniors classes will resume on Mon 3rd Feb 2014. We look forward to seeing you all again then. Please note that membership fees will be due before the end of February.

If you have any questions about anything related to classes or Chinese New Year, give me a shout.
