There’s important class and seminar information in this newsletter, so please read through. Firstly, thanks again for another year of classes – it’s a privilege to teach you all. There are some changes to class times for kung fu and a couple of extra seminar sessions in January. See all the details below: Here are the end and restart dates for regular classes: Adults Kung Fu Last class for 2023 – Monday 11th December 2023 First class back for 2024 – Monday 15th January 2024 Please note that as from the end of November 2023, Adult Kung Fu classes will only be held on Monday. Wednesday class is suspended until further notice. Kids Kung Fu Last class for 2023 – Monday 11th December 2023 First class back for 2024 – Monday 5th February 2024 The last grading of the year for any kids who are ready will be on Monday December 11th. Qi Gong/Chi Kung/Tai Chi Last class for 2023 – Thursday 21st December 2023 First class back for 2024 – Monday 15th January 2024 Qi Gong Summer Seminars There are two seminars, which complement each other, happening in early January that are of benefit to all qi gong and kung fu students. Part of the Lohan Qi Gong system includes long and short pole exercises that are designed for therapeutic health, strength and flexibility combined with breathing for mental focus and internal health. The exercises utilise the poles to assist movements and concentration. Understanding these exercises, while of great benefit in and of themselves, will also help to improve the practice of all the regular qi gong and kung fu forms. (This is of great benefit to kung fu students even if you haven’t studied any qi gong yet.) The Long Pole seminar will be on Saturday 6th January 2024, from 10.30am until 1.30pm The Short Pole seminar will be on Saturday 13th January 2024, from 10.30am until 1.30pm The cost is $150 for each seminar, or $250 for both paid in advance. Please see below for all the relevant class dates for the end of term 3 and the start of term 4 2023. KIDS KUNG FU Last class for term 3 will be Monday 18th September. Classes will restart on Monday 9th October 2023. ADULTS KUNG FU Last class for term 3 will be Wednesday 20th September. Classes will restart on Monday 9th October 2023. QI GONG / TAI CHI Last class for term 3 will be Thursday 21st September. Classes will restart on Monday 9th October 2023. Please also note that there will be no Qi Gong/Tai Chi classes on October 23rd, 25th and 26th as Alan will be away that week. Apologies for the term disruption. Please note that our Wednesday morning Qi Gong class will no longer be held in Gerroa. This class is now 9.30am to 10.30am every Wednesday morning during school terms at Saint George's Anglican Church hall, 103 Fern Street, Gerringong NSW 2534. This new location is a much more accessible venue from all directions. (According to Google maps, Kiama to Gerringong is 11 minutes, while Kiama to Gerroa is 16 minutes. Berry to Gerroa is 12 minutes, while Berry to Gerringong via the highway is 11 minutes.) Below are end of term 2 and start of term 3 class dates. Please also note the public holiday. Kids Kung Fu Last class for term 2 will be Monday 26th June - anyone ready for their next grading will grade on this day. First class back for term 3 will be Monday 17th July Please note - there is no class on Monday 12th June due to the King's Birthday Public Holiday Adults Kung Fu Last class for term 2 will be Wednesday 28th June. First class back for term 3 will be Monday 17th July Please note - there is no class on Monday 12th June due to the King's Birthday Public Holiday Qi Gong / Tai Chi Last class for term 2 will be Thursday 29th June. First class back for term 3 will be Monday 17th July Please note - there is no class on Monday 12th June due to the King's Birthday Public Holiday If you could spread the word about our classes, we would be eternally grateful. It's getting harder and more expensive to advertise all the time, so word of mouth becomes ever more important. Also, if there's somewhere you know of that would accept a small poster advertising our classes, please let us know. If you're able to put a poster anywhere, please shout and we can let you have one. Advertising opportunities are getting fewer and fewer these days, so word of mouth really helps.

Please pay close attention to the dates relevant for your classes. Unfortunately, the hall we use for our kung fu classes have shifted another booking, so those classes are finishing a week sooner than we originally planned. There’s nothing we can do about that, I’m afraid. This is to let you know about all the finish and restart dates for classes around term 3 and 4 for 2022. Unfortunately there's also information about a fees increase. I've held this off as long as possible, but costs are rising too much. More on that below. Firstly, here are the relevant class dates: Adult Kung Fu Classes Continue as usual. Adult Kung Fu grading will be on Saturday 22nd October at 9am. Kids Kung Fu Classes Last class for term 3 – Monday 19th September (and grading for those who are ready) First class back in term 4 – Monday 10th October Qi Gong/Tai Chi Classes Last class for term 3 – Thursday 22nd September - despite the sudden Public Holiday, this class will go ahead First class back in term 4 – Monday 10th October Fees Sadly, costs are rising. Some of the rents I pay have gone up, insurance fees have gone up, etc., not to mention general expenses like petrol for getting around. So unfortunately, I'm finally at a place where I need to pass some of that on. Fees have remained the same for some time and hopefully these small increases will not be too brutal. As from Term 4 fees will be as follows: Adult Kung Fu: 10 Class Pass $175 / $20 casual Kids Kung Fu: 10 Class Pass $150 / $20 casual Qi Gong: 10 Class Pass $175 / $20 casual Membership/insurance fees for the year will remain at $75 per person, payable before the end of February each year. That’s it for now. Please help us spread the word about our classes by telling family, friends, colleagues and class mates. Word of mouth is the best advertising we can get. All classes are now back to normal for the rest of term 2 with a couple of exceptions detailed below.
